G&G Marina: A Family Legacy at the Lake

G&G Marina is the oldest family-owned, on-water marina at Lake of the Ozarks. The marina’s roots date back to 1973, when Larry Goudy—an Iowa native and Camdenton High School graduate—purchased the former Russell Marina alongside his brother, Mike. At just 24 years old, Larry turned a lifelong dream into reality, renaming the business G&G Marina in honor of the family name, Goudy & Goudy.

Larry and his wife, Carol, operated the marina with dedication and pride, joined early on by Mike and his wife, Connie. Although Mike and Connie later relocated to Houston, the marina remained firmly rooted as a family operation. Larry’s father, Duane—known affectionately as “Pappy” or “Grandpa”—became a familiar and beloved presence at the marina for many years, contributing to its reputation for warmth, trust, and personal service.

The marina grew alongside the Goudy family itself. Larry and Carol raised their daughters while building the business, even living above the shop during the early years. In 1983, the family experienced the tragic loss of their daughter Caryn. Despite this hardship, their commitment to the marina and the Lake of the Ozarks boating community never wavered.

Today, the legacy continues with the next generation. After more than 50 years at the helm, Larry has passed the torch to his daughter Alysia, who returned to the Lake in 2003 after completing her education and professional career. Under her leadership, G&G Marina carries forward the same values it was built on — honest service, deep local knowledge, and long-term relationships with the families who’ve trusted us for generations.

G&G Marina proudly serves third-generation customers while remaining a hands-on, family-run business. The same principles that defined the marina in 1973—honest service, deep local knowledge, and long-term relationships—continue to guide everything we do today.
